Family & Children
Hand-drawn portraits of the people who matter most — babies, children, siblings, grandparents, couples and whole families. Drawn from your own photographs and made to be treasured for years.
Perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, Mother's and Father's Day, or simply capturing a stage of life before it passes.
How it works
Your Family Portrait
Choose your photos
Send a few favourites and I'll help you pick the strongest. Natural light and clear faces make the biggest difference.
Everyone together
Can't get everyone in one photo? Separate photographs can often be combined into one composition, with a mock-up for you to approve first.
Watch it grow
Progress photos let you see your portrait taking shape and ask for small tweaks before it's finished.
Delivered with care
Your portrait is carefully packaged and posted anywhere in the UK, or collected locally in Devon.
A one-of-a-kind family keepsake
Children change so quickly. A hand-drawn portrait captures a moment — a gappy grin, a newborn's tiny features, a big brother's arm around his sister — in a way that feels more personal than a printed photo.
I also draw couples and wedding portraits, including anniversary pieces drawn from wedding photos taken many years ago, and multi-generation portraits bringing grandparents, parents and grandchildren together in one piece.
Most family portraits are drawn in pencil, with oil available for some commissions — just ask.
Pricing is hourly, with three turnaround options: Standard (£15/hour, around 3 weeks), Priority (£22/hour, 7–10 days) and Express (£30/hour, 3–5 days). Once we have agreed size, number of subjects and any background, I can give you an estimate of the hours involved. As a guide, most portraits are drawn on A3 paper: a single person or pet takes around 10 hours (about £150 at the Standard rate) and two subjects around 15 hours (about £225), plus UK postage from £4. A 50% deposit secures your slot.

Questions
How many people can be in one portrait?
From a single baby to a whole family group. The number of subjects affects the time involved, so I'll confirm an estimate once we've agreed size and composition.
Can you combine people from different photos?
Yes — separate photographs can often be combined. Angles and lighting are considered first, and a rough mock-up is agreed before work begins.
Can you draw from an old wedding photo?
Yes. Anniversary portraits drawn from older wedding photos make a wonderful gift. Send what you have and I'll let you know what will work.
